First Trumpet - Revelation 8:7
The first sounded, and there came hail and fire, mixed with blood, and they were thrown to the earth; and a third of the earth was burned up, and a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.

The Great War (1914 - 1918) (World War I )

Specific to point of view of the area of the vision

The hail and fire sounds very much like artillery shells.
Being mixed with blood from the people and animals they hit when they exploded, with this once again falling back to earth.
The earth in the area being burned from weapons fire.

World War II also had similar weaponry to fulfil this vision. Adolf Hitler had a Scorched Earth Policy.

A third of the trees in the area being burned up.
All the grass in the area being burned up.

This looks very much to be pointing at "The Great War" now known as World War One. (WWI) This conclusion is based on working backwards from the 5th Trumpet being in Iraq in 2003.
