The Two Witnesses Prophesy for 42 months which is 1260 days, and also is 3 and a half years (prophetic 360 day years).
The final seven of Daniel (being translated by many as a week, in fact meaning 7 years from the previous 69 sevens/weeks) is divided into two halves of 1260 days each. The first half is the 42 months of their prophesying, and during this time they will divine protection, and cast plagues upon the earth. After this they are killed by the beast that comes from the Abyss, so this event joins on with the events immediately above it.
The final rule of the beast is for 42 months, taking up the final half of those 7 years. The fatal wound which is healed, is when the beast is taken over by a dark power, even satan himself, and it is then that he has the power to kill the two witnesses. At which time he will prove how "powerful" he is to the world, by his healing and by his power to kill these people who say God protects them.
From this point on, the rest of the saints/believers will be persecuted. Those who are prudent will see it coming, and flee to the wilderness for protection for 42 months, which I believe will be Australia's Desert, and they will get their by air craft. The evidence of this will be seen when the desert has floods that turn into rivers, and the desert blooms.

And the two wings of the great eagle were give to the woman, in order that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she was nourished for time and times and half a time (3.5 years/42 months), form the presence of the serpent.
