Saddam HUSSEIN prepared oil pits to light on fire to cause much smoke to try and confuse the sight of his attackers and the weapons targeting technology.

Verse 2: And he opened the bottomless pit; and smoke went up out of the pit, like the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke of the pit.

The vision of man from the first century of a missile falling to earth and the explosion with the fire and smoke would resemble what he could relate to, that being a bottomless pit. The spiritual revelation to him of the abyss/bottomless pit as being directly related to this vision would explain his description.

The gunships also can "sneak" in behind enemy lines and attack specific mission targets and do reconnaissance missions to report the enemies positions to Head Quarters.

Verse 3: And out of the smoke came forth locusts upon the earth; and the power was given them, as scorpions of the earth have power.

The Helicopter very much resembles a flying locust, and looks in part like a scorpion. Indeed when the helicopter moves forward, its front drops and its tail goes higher in the air like resembling a scorpion about to attack.

The aim of the war on Iraq was to only harm the regime of the government and the dethrone them of their power. The government buildings were attacked, but the infrastructure was left in tact as much as possible.

Verse 4: And they were told that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree, but only the men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.

These three things, grass, green things and tree… are to do with the provision of food and spiritually are terms referring to men. Man is as grass, every green thing is given to you for food and healing, he will be like a tree planted beside waters.

Also the things which make up crude oil from scientist explanations are these thing from ancient swamps. The oil in Iraq is their major trade for food.

The resulting lawlessness of the regime fleeing has much looting and murders, and fear for their safety from their own countrymen. Such is a torment to all who have uncertainty for their well being.

Verse 6: And in those days men will seek death and will not find it; and they will long to die and death flees from them.

For the innocent which are wrongly accused may wish that they were dead to this world and with God rather than alive in the prisons of their oppressors.

Also those who have lost loved ones in the war would be in great torment might be wishing they are dead and perhaps even that they died with their loved ones.

Also those who have horrific injuries are being kept alive by modern medical means, where as they would have died and had their suffering end. Some with horrific burns lost limbs and other disabilities which will be with them for the rest of their lives.

The torment might be compared to being poisoned by scorpion or even alcohol where the body is convulsing as it tries to get rid of the poison by vomiting. For those who have experienced this, quite often they wish that they could die so they would not have to suffer as they are, but they do not die and have to endure it.

Looking into the cockpit from the front you would see the face of men.

Verse 7: And the appearance of the locusts was like the horses prepared for battle; and on their heads, as it were, crowns like gold, and their faces were like the faces of men.

The rockets and missiles on either side of the Apache could have had the look of giant fangs like that of lions. Though more likely from the picture below the Wheels hanging down would give the fangs effect when viewed from the font.

Verse 8: And they had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were like the teeth of lions.

Apache Helicopters have armour plating… I dare say it is iron in places, but probably has been replaced by lighter and stronger alloys of various materials and resembles iron in appearance, at least to a First Century Man like Apostle John. The sounds of helicopters is very much like chariots and many horses rushing into battle. This verse is so obvious it could send you deaf!

Verse 9: And they had breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, of many horses rushing to battle.

The following verse refers to tails twice, one in visual description and the other in a practical description. Look at the Operation Desert Scorpion 16/6/2003 and the time it ends and Operation Iron Hammer 12/11/2003 starts is exactly 5 months to the day by prophetic months of 30 days (5 x 30 = 150 days)

Verse 10: And they have tails like scorpions, and stings; and in their tails is the power to hurt men for five months.

Revelation 9:11 - They have as king over them, the angel of the abyss; his name in Hebrew is *Abaddon, and in the Greek he has the name Apollyon. (*Destruction)

Verse 12: The first woe is past; behold, two woes are still are still coming after these things.
